Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a PDF for free?

Upload your PDF to the tool above, pick a compression level, and click Compress. The smaller PDF downloads instantly. Free, no account needed, no watermarks.

Will compression ruin my images?

It depends on the level you choose. High Quality mode barely changes images at all. Medium is a good balance — most people cannot tell the difference. Low prioritizes file size, so image-heavy PDFs may show some softening. Try Medium first.

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on the content. Image-heavy PDFs (scans, photos, presentations) often shrink 40-80%. Text-heavy PDFs with few images may only shrink 10-20%. The tool shows you the exact reduction after compression.

Is it safe to compress PDFs online?

Yes. Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, compressed on our server using Ghostscript, and deleted immediately after. We never store or inspect your documents.

Can I compress a PDF on my phone?

Yes. The compressor works in any modern mobile browser. Upload from your phone, pick a level, and download the smaller file.

Is there a file size limit?

Each file can be up to 100 MB. That covers the vast majority of PDFs people need to compress. If your file is larger, consider splitting it first and compressing the parts.
